    Project Manager (GIT)

    ROLE PURPOSE:
    This role is responsible for leading the delivery of Group Information Technology (GIT) managed projects (through all project phases) within a Portfolio / Programme context on time within budget and meet the desired business objectives, scope and quality requirements.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOMES / ACCOUNTABILITY:
    Demand Management – Contribute to Demand Management process using prior experience

    • Assist the Demand Forum to make the correct investment decisions.
    • Assess IT requests across project dimensions.
    • Assess project Business Cases.
       

    Project Governance – Apply defined Project Governance
     

    • Refine / optimize the current PMO methodology.
    • Enhance models, templates and controls for better project cost estimations and management.
       

    Project Management and Project Delivery

    • Support Business Transformation in / through project delivery.
    • Ensure Group IT PMO and Computer System Validation (CSV) requirements are met.
    • Lead RFP and Contracting activities and manage Service Integrator/s accordingly.
    • Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality and risks.
    • Manage project stakeholders, communication, change management and escalation.
    • Manage project Teams: roles and responsibilities, training and performance.
    • Manage project meetings, status calls, coordinate project activities and manage stakeholder expectations.
    • Provide regular project status update including project progress to achieve project objectives.
    • Optimally utilise project management and other software tools.
    • Facilitate sign-off for phase, gate and project completion deliverables.
    • Manage Service Introduction, document project lessons learned and obtain project closure sign-off.
    • Coordinate the publication, review and sign-off of major Project Management deliverables
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and participate in internal communications activities to inform stakeholders of progress and issues.
    • Collect, consolidate and analyse project data to support effective decision making.
    • Manage change requests and new project request processes.
       

    Portfolio Management Office – Supporting Activities

    • Assist in reviewing and enhancing the Aspen Integrated Methodology (AIM), where appropriate;
    • Enhance Project Execution and Reporting for Finance management and Business Benefits;
    • Provide guidance during project set-up of projects that are Group IT owned – high cost, strategic or high risk projects;
    • Anticipate / deduct early warning signs in projects that are headed for trouble and report this to PMO Services Manager;
    • Facilitate remedies for projects that exhibit shortcomings / face challenges;
    • Audit projects that are perceived to be “in trouble” and share findings with PMO Services Manager;
    • Prepare reports that support PMO reporting requirements;
    • Enhance PMO templates, checklists and trackers, where appropriate;
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, training and oversight to project resources;
    • Harvest (and package) project assets for re-use;
    • Coordinate communication across projects;
    • Maintain the Risk Log, Assumption Log, Issue Log, Dependency Log and Decision Log for administered projects
    • Manage program/project level lessons learned repository and attend Post Project Review meetings to identify key areas of improvement
    • Continually evaluate and evolve the PMO business function
    • Ensure that the appropriate project benefits are identified, quantified and realised
    • Create an organisational culture of project management, programme management and portfolio management
    • Create efficiencies to drive organisational success
       

    LEARNING AND GROWTH
    Resolve Resource issues

    • Project team performance issues are accurately identified and action is instituted.
    • Potential conflict is resolved according to Aspen guidelines.
    • Corrective action is taken according to the Aspen and PMO guidelines, in cases of poor performance.
       

    Identify development / training needs of self and project teams.
     

    • Team performance is monitored against standards and regular feedback is provided.
    • Individual goals are developed and aligned to Project goals that are clearly defined as per project requirements.
    • Performance discussions are held regularly to identify learning requirements.
    • Develop and implement communications, learning and development plans


    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience in a related field;
    • 5 – 10 years’ experience in Project Management
    • 5 – 10 years’ experience in the IT environment
    • Formal Project Management Certification backed by hands on Project Management and Portfolio Management Office experience;
    • In-depth experience and demonstrated ability to manage Project Business Cases and Project Finances;
    • Experience in auditing projects and delivering projects within a Computer Systems Validation (CSV) context preferred;
    • Executive and Operational level communication skills - written and oral;
    • Ability to collaborate with and appropriately influence peers, end users, management, and external service providers.
