    Project Manager

    About the job

    Human Destiny is currently seeking a Project Manager for one of our clients in the renewable energy sector. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering quality projects within budget and on time. This will involve coordination of various new and ongoing projects and managing the operational aspects thereof. The role is a fixed term 6-month contract, and can can be administered from home as a remote/virtual position

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Delivery of Projects and Programmes to time, cost and scope

    • Delivery of both internal and external customer facing programmes, including the introduction of new products and services

    • Maintaining effective relationships with Project Sponsors and Stakeholders

    • Managing issues and risks

    • Managing and maintaining project plans

    • Manage Project teams through successful matrix management

    • Managing diverse Project teams across multiple organisations

    • Ensuring the successful delivery of programmes and projects, reporting activity and progress against plan

    • Manage quality of project deliverables

    • Provide support, guidance, and share good practice within the team and across the business

    • Clear reporting on project initiatives

    • Management of project logistics, planning and project scheduling

    • Manage project start-up and initiation activities

    • Project budget management

    • Proposal writing

    • Build and maintain effective project teams

    • Facilitation and conflict resolution

    • Engaging with the business to understand all factors that influence project delivery and team effectiveness

    • Developing and maintaining project plans

    • Management of project risks, issues and action logs

    • Project and progress reporting

    • Managing scope and change control

    • Management of external suppliers

    • Manage the relationship between the project, stakeholders and key business areas

    • Co-ordinate programme and project activities across the organisation and associated business partners

    • Managing project closure through to implementation review and handover to business as usual

    KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

    • Demonstrable experience of managing projects with budgets in excess of R1m

    • Demonstrable experience of managing Projects throughout the entire delivery lifecycle – approximately 10 years’ experience

    • Experience of managing Senior Stakeholders, 3rd Party Suppliers/Partners and internal diverse teams essential

    • Demonstrable experience in delivery of Electrical Engineering projects

    • Experience in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing or Construction beneficial

    • Experience working with power generation, power transfer or renewable energy would be highly beneficial

     

    QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION

    • Educated to honours degree level or equivalent within relevant engineering discipline

    • Professional Project Management qualification e.g. Prince 2 Practitioner or PMI

     

    PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

    • Leadership and Influencing Skills - The ability to demonstrate strong leadership and direction among peers and all levels of the business, gaining buy-in and support where necessary both up and down the management chain. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, particularly at executive level, are highly desirable

    • Commercial Awareness - Possess a strong understanding of the financial and operational impacts of change upon a project, its benefits realisation and on-going viability

    • Communication Skills - Candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different situations and work approaches with positive results. The candidate must have the ability to deliver presentations at all levels of the business.

    • Results Oriented - A focus on delivering the results and measurable outcomes as specified in the business case

    • Planning and Organising - This is a critical attribute; the candidate must demonstrate the ability to plan and organise themselves and others effectively with clear direction and lines of communication

    • High Attention to Detail
