    Projects Manager (JHB East Rand)

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Budget establishment and submission based on projects that are scoped and costed according to the user requirement.
    • Specification and as set out by the customer (budget accuracy).
    • Manage costs by ensuring that approved annual Project budgets are adhered to, and that costing is as efficient as possible (budget adherence, management feedback).
    • Ensuring cost efficiency, accuracy of components and add technical input where required (scope completeness).
    • Work with the Procurement Department to ensure compliance to the necessary tendering and procurement processes at Rand Refinery (System Compliance).
    • Specific Mechanical Engineering inputs into projects and operations.
    • Ensure that the technical solutions provided, enable targeted plant efficiency and productivity.
    • Technical solutions consider maintenance requirements that facilitate effective repairs and maintenance.
    • Technical solutions provided enhance plant reliability and plant efficiency and total cost of ownership.
    • Continuous improvement of systems and processes by identifying and suggesting alternative solutions that increase throughput, reduce utility consumption, and reduce the maintenance effort (overhead cost reduction).
    • SHEQ management by ensuring that equipment, machinery, people and products are protected from risk and harm.
    • Identify hazards promptly and to act.
    • Adhering to all legislative requirements. (SHEQ manager feedback, manager feedback, no LTI's, near miss reporting).
    • Adhering to all internal SHEQ standards and requirement (SHEQ Manager feedback, Manager feedback, no LTls, near miss reporting).
    • Conducts risk assessments for ail solutions that are provided to ensure that standards are maintained, and risk is minimised for staff, equipment, product, and the company (zero LTl, MTI or similar incidents).
    • Training is to be provided for all technology that is provided that varies in any way from procedure or is new.
    • Effectively manage the contractors in line with the SHEQ the Project structure - no labour disputes or unresolved disciplinary matters related to performance and delivery to customer, 360-degree report.

    Requirements:

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A completed Matric qualification.
    • A Mechanical Engineering qualification (BEng/ BSc. qualification would be advantageous).
    • Must have acquired at least 8 – 10 years of working experience, of which 5 years should be at a management level and 2 years within the project management fraternity.
    • ECSA professional registration would serve as an advantage.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    • Computer literacy - MS Office and SAP reporting.
    • General knowledge related to all fields within the Engineering discipline which includes but is not limited to Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical or Civil fields.
    • General knowledge of the LRA, OHS Act and SHE requirements relating to policies, procedures, regulations and permit compliance to ensure compliance in these areas of safety and management of people.
    • Fault finding and investigations - understand techniques with high level of proficiency.
    • Management knowledge - able to manage effectively Installation and commissioning knowledge relating to the understand, dynamics and processes of starting-up new installations.
    • General knowledge of pyrometallurgy and wet chemical refining processes would be a benefit.
    • Express potential through adaptability, applied learning, initiating action, innovation, impact and work standards.
    • Interact effectively through communication at all levels, building relationships, negotiation and gaining commitment.
    • Achieve goals by aligning performance for success, developing others, facilitating change, monitoring information, inspiring others, information monitoring, meeting leadership and participation and follow up.
    • Have sound engineering experience within the project execution environment.
    • Project Management experience.
