    Quality and Compliance Manager – FM1676

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Matric
    • Food Science or relevant Agricultural Qualification
    • Global Standard or Food Safety, BRCGS and Global Gap Qualification certification and Experience
    • Citrus and or Packhouse experience will be an added advantage.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS

    Operations: 

    • Perform supervisory responsibilities complying with organizations policies and applicable laws.
    • Plan, assign and direct work of team members.
    • Monitoring and controlling stock levels, usage, and ordering.
    • Determine and drives strategic direction for department.
    • Accountable for the day-to-day decision-making in operations as it pertains to the department efficiencies, cost, and risk.
    • Implement, maintain, and review the Compliance Systems within the packhouse.
    • Overseeing food safety, Quality, and hygiene systems effectivity through regular internal and external audits, with corrective actions put in place timeously and effectively.
    • Overseeing the Food Safety Culture Systems- Quarterly reports and action plans
    • Ensure effective and accurate feedback to producer queries.
    • Manage and monitor the quality team, tests, inspections, and data accuracy throughout the process flow.
    • Reviewing regulatory standards and trends to stay updated of issues in the field of quality control and compliance.

    Finance: 

    • Increasing revenue potential and maximizing cost efficiencies within department
    • Controlling administrative operations such as budget planning, report preparation, expenditure and ensuring the efficient use of resources

    Quality and Compliance: 

    • Ensure that all procedures in the department are followed according to Policies and Procedures and that all required records are completed accurately and timeously, with any deviations reported to management as soon as possible.
    • Coordination and planning of operations in the department to ensure smooth operations and maximizing overall packhouse productivity and quality.
    • Ensure that all standards and requirements are assessed, and non-conformances clearly raised with the respective departments. Ensure that all corrective actions and process controls are validated for effectiveness on non-conformance close-out.
    • Ensure that final product quality complies to regulation and customer specifications to eliminate pallet rejections and quality comebacks.
    • Ensure that the area of responsibility is clean and that all hygiene, health and safety policies and rules are followed.
    • Ensure vigilance and continuous improvement in worker safety within responsible area. Ensuring accurate internal quality checks are performed, compliance and health and safety walkthroughs such as glass control, pest checks and health and safety are done timeously and thorough record keeping of such events.
    • Oversee reports regarding non-conformances of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analysis or quality trends.
    • Coordination of compliance audit schedules and audit non-conformances, and communication of expectations and reporting results.

    Communication and Reporting 

    • Analysing quality control test results and providing timeously feedback and interpretation to packhouse management (QMS/MRL’s/Water Sampling/Internals/ Intake QC/Cull factor/ line and final inspections).
    • Responsible for the capturing and reconciling of accurate records and ensuring all applicable documentation is completed to the highest standards.
    • Ensuring good communication on all levels (upwards and downwards) to ensure effective and efficient operations.
    • Compile accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for delivery during Manco, Exco and Grower Sessions
    • Communication of QC Summary and Market Restraints for daily operations decision making

     Human Resource Management

    • Overseeing the selection, training, personal development planning and performance of staff. Manage staff members by rewarding and disciplining staff members, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Ensure that staff are trained in the general packhouse processes, standards and quality specifications through induction, toolbox talks and refresher training sessions when needed
