Requirements    

• Bsc Degree (Chemistry/Microbiology) or relevant diploma
• 5+ years General Lab Experience with applicable technical knowledge i.e. Microbiology/Chemistry/Molecular biology methods
• Laboratory expereince in FMCG production, advantageous
• Knowledge of technical signatory and SANAS ISO 17025 system.    
• 5+ years people management experience  
• Specialist skills and Knowledge: Tests, equipment and technology
• High level of Computer Skills - MS Office Understand electronic / computerised
• High level of alpha - numeric literacy

Duties and Responsibilities    
Implement and maintain the quality system as per ISO 17025 and SANAS accreditation.

• Perform duties of SANAS as a nominative representative    
• Implement and maintain SANAS ISO 17025 system to ensure compliance at all times
• Ensure all equipment is calibrated and continuously verified for compliance
• Assist in verification of new methods and apply for scope extension as needs arise
• Provide technical insight into validated methods to assist in troubleshooting
• Complete customer surveys as per SANAS requirements    
• Investigate non-conformances.     
• Keep clients informed of any deviations or changes and follow up customer complaints to resolve them speedily

Conduct general laboratory tasks and run proficiency schemes    

• Ensure correct sampling and testing procedures    
• Analyse, handle and store samples    
• Maintain and calibrate equipment    
• Control stock control of test material    
• Ensure Good Laboratory Practice and general housekeeping    
• Arrange inter branch testing    
• Process data for product technology    
• Prepare and interpret reports    
• Ensure 100% compliance for Lab techniques    
• Troubleshoot equipment errors and ensure continuity of testing is maintained    
• Provide fair warning if there are any breakdowns in equipment that will affect result  releases
• Ensure continuous assessment of methods are carried out 
• Releasing of raw material and final products    
• Check that COA  that company raw material and packaging material delivery and ensure correct contain the correct information and comply to Clover specification    
• Control over non-conforming product
• Handle and manage concession applications of Co-packed products    

Manage subordinates    

• Set objectives and manage performance 
• Guide and train team members and train factory lab personnel      
• Motivate personnel to maintain a positive working environment    
• Educate/Train personnel to ensure technical knowledge of methods are always up to date
• Ensure full understanding of ISO 17025, to ensure competence
• Conduct meetings and ensure effective communication to all    

Maintain laboratory knowledge management database

• Compile, update and maintain an electronic database of all Clover Laboratory practices and procedures    
• Ensure comprehensive knowledge of Clover factories and Clover products to improve trouble shooting of problems regarding products    
• Communicate and interact with internal and external clients    

Strategic planning to investigate opportunities for improvement e.g. systems, processes, procedures, equipment and cost saving 

• Analyse customer complaints to determine route cause and areas of improvement 
• Assess new product manufacturing and investigate necessary method development and equipment requirements    
• Investigate new/alternative technologies for possible cost saving
