    Quality Controller Raw Materials

    The Diageo SA business is one of the few examples of a TBA business across the world, with significant presence in Beer (2m EUs), Spirits (4m EUs) and RTDs (1m EUs) and a portfolio of 28 brands.

    Dimensions

    Financial targets:

    • Comply to the expenditure within the Quality budget
    • Supporting Operations in the reduction of the quantity of isolations, reworks and waste due to non-conformances.
    • Monitor and track cost of quality.

    Functional Market Complexity

    The South African market is complex with many competitors and a strong quality, cost and delivery focus. Need to constantly reduce production cost, while maintaining high quality and delivery to become Number 1.

    This role involves facilitation and interaction with staff from Production, Engineering, CI, Training, and Warehouse departments.

    Leadership Responsibilities

    • The role has no direct reports but would be expected to interact and influence several people in other departments.
    • The role requires skills to engage with different stakeholders in the business.

    Purpose of Role

    • An integral part of the Quality Team and a support service provision to the production operation.
    • Comply with the Quality Control/Assurance Activities.
    • Monitoring of process controls and packaging quality on-line as per the Quality Plan, in accordance with requirements and standards and react accordingly when non-conformances are observed.
    • Ensure the raw materials received meets all specifications when released and follow the isolation procedure for all non-conforming product.
    • Monitor & Inspect Raw Materials as per the Quality Plan when required.
    • Troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and support on corrective/preventative action measures
    • Conduct verification and validation activities on lab equipment.
    • Ensure the reliability and accuracy of results & records and ensure retention samples are kept as per procedure and information of the product is legible.
    • Conduct and report on Compliance Audits in respect of GHPs, GMPs, GRMS, PRPs and 5S as per schedule.
    • Basic maintenance of lab equipment, calibration, cleaning and maintaining of housekeeping.
    • Maintaining relevant Lab Housekeeping Standards & Retention sample room/GLP’s.
    • Capturing, Maintaining & Control of Records and Documentation as per the Quality Management System.
    • Analyse the product, capture the results and update the shift report accurately before the end of the shift.
    • To ensure CODEX requirements are met throughout the process and update the report.
    • To ensure that PPMD verification are conducted as per Global Quality Standard.
    • To actively be involved in MMS site projects and CI initiatives.
    • Support Quality & Food Safety Systems by ensure all procedures, working aid, work instructions and test method are accurate.
    • Ensure compliance, implementation and maintenance of company requirements, standards, and legislation.
    • Communicate with supplier on non- conforming raw materials
    • Investigate all customer / consumer complaints and provide FACTS and supporting records.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    • Tertiary Qualification in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry any other Science related field

    Experience

    • At least 2 years laboratory experience
    • Quality Control in an FMCG Environment
    • Knowledge of Quality & Food Safety Systems (ISO 9001 & FSSC 22000)
    • Working knowledge of SAP.tms ld,dent)
    • Knowledge of bottling processes
    • Knowledge of Non-Conformance process
