Quality Manager - Cape Town at Mulilo

About this role

The Quality Manager forms part of the construction management team and will be responsible for overseeing and implementing a robust quality management system for Mulilo within the renewable energy project environment in South Africa. This role demands a meticulous and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in quality assurance and control.

Duties and responsibilities 

• Establish the quality strategy, goals and objectives for projects and plan the implementation thereof.
• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) tailored to the unique requirements of renewable energy projects.
• Ensure adherence to international and industry-specific quality standards.
• Ensure project quality assurance resources are recruited and trained in time to deliver effective quality management.
• Establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for suppliers and contractors.
• Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Provide expert opinion on Quality issues acting as the source of best practice on all aspects of Quality Management.
• Lead Quality reviews, third party assessments and produce Quality reports as required.
• Perform quality checks on the project site and at the sub suppliers
• Champion initiatives to raise quality awareness and enhance the profile of quality management within the project.
• Ensure that contractor systems are aligned to those of Mulilo and robust enough to ensure the appropriate quality is delivered at all phases of the project.
• Establish and drive through internal audit plans and schedules to ensure compliance.
• Develop corrective action plans as required.
• Capture and implement lessons learnt and work with project teams to develop and implement improvement plans.

Required skills and education background.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in quality management within the renewable energy industry or mega project environment.
• Familiar with international quality standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
• Strong understanding of South African quality regulations and standards.
