    Real Estate Paralegal

    OPPORTUNITY AND PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:

    The purpose of the role is to support our sales team on all sales, from offer negotiation through to transfer. This will include preparing real estate documents and ensuring that communication always flows smoothly between attorneys, buyers, sellers, originators and real estate agents.

    More specifically, you will be responsible for:

    • Maintain and manage a pipeline of sales until transfer
    • Maintain, manage and diarize due dates for the suspensive conditions, occupation and transfer
    • Regularly input data and cross-check documents through the client relationship management system
    • When required, contact leads via email or telephone
    • Preparing/ drafting contracts, including the accepted online offer to purchase, addendums, etc
    • Facilitating communication between the attorneys for the agent, buyer and seller
    • Reviewing attorney feedback and reports and assisting where necessary to avoid delays in transfer - deadlines are essential for ensuring that properties are registered and paid according to planned timelines
    • Facilitate communication between other required 3rd parties when necessary, including bond originators, banks, compliance companies, bank valuators, Buyers Trust, bridging firms, etc
    • Assist with Fica due diligence as per office policies –At times, you may have to contact various parties by phone, e-mail or in-person in order to obtain needed document
    • Assist in preparation of biweekly reports for estate agents and management
    • Keeping the live sales report up to date
    • Once the transaction is finalized, make sure all ends are tied with post-closing documents
    • Prepare correspondence for disputes, delays, discrepancies, etc.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Excellent writing and oral communication skills with a good command of English and at least one other official South African language
    • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
    • The ability to take initiative, to work independently with a lot of self-discipline and strong attention to detail
    • Must be entirely familiar with closing, lending procedures and all other aspects of the sale and purchase of real estate
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while delivering consistent, quality work

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Excellent Computer Skills, Including Google Suite, Excel and Word skills
    • Digitally savvy
    • Matric with 2-3 years relevant experience in real estate, sales and paralegal administration
    • Paralegal certificate or Diploma
    • NQF4/5 qualification will be an advantage
