    Regional Head Wealth

    Job Summary

    • The main purpose of the role is to develop and enhance ABSA Wealth business and brand across the region, through strategic relationship-building with ABSA Wealth counterparts and the external introducer business community, to help achieve business growth ambitions. To lead the region in ensuring that it meets its targets and contributes appropriately to corporate objectives.

    • The main purpose of the role is to develop and enhance ABSA Wealth business and brand across the region, through strategic relationship-building with ABSA Wealth counterparts and the external introducer business community, to help achieve business growth ambitions. To lead the region in ensuring that it meets its targets and contributes appropriately to corporate objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategy Execution

    • The broad role is to work as a member of the Regional Performance managements teams, actively contributing to the design and execution of the local and business wide strategy
    • Developing and implementing a strategic business plan that is aligned to the Absa Wealth’s corporate objectives that achieves growth ambitions for the office.
    • Shape and drive the strategy of the Family Office replicating the Absa Wealth strategy (incorporating a transition from providing only private banking products/ structures to Investment Banking solutions.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Build strong relationships with both global and local internal and external stakeholders.
    • Effectively communicate developments within areas of activity to all relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure impeccable and timeous service levels
    • Liaise with various Business Unit Heads within Absa Capital and Wealth

    Revenue Generation

    • Manage the commercial profitability of the business unit
    • Grow the client base, including reactivating dormant accounts
    • Personally manage a portfolio of clients

    People Management

    • Oversee the Management of wealth Managers and support Staff and their Engagement with Clients.
    • Accompany the Wealth Managers on selected client engagement (New and Existing Clients) to determine client needs and requirements in order to implement appropriate actions.
    • Manage the Wealth Managers & Support teams to ensure effective client service delivery.
    • Develop a high performing Family Office team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching. Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members
    • Determine and analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
    • Establish and maintain a succession plan for the team.
    • Interview and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from HR.
    • Create effective workforce and recruitment plans to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met. Plans should be revised at least twice a year.
    • Address poor performance through formal performance accelerator programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.
    • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognised.
    • Participate in the creation and implementation of Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) actions for them.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BCOM Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Investments (NQF7)
    • 10 years management and leadership roles in a Wealth management environment
    • Prior experience of working within Financial Services, preferably Wealth Management or Corporate banking

    FAIS

    • Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status.

    General

    • The appointment will be made in line with the Divisional Employment Equity strategy.

    Education

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
