    Regional Procurement Services Manager (Africa)

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Reporting to and supporting the Copper Africa Transactional Services Lead, this role is responsible for managing and coordinating the complete governance of the global procurement function, providing optimal procurement services to the copper assets and functions and ensure standardization of efficiency of all procurement processes.

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Achieve cost savings for the business through the strict application of governance principles and standards and managing the procurement function to minimize unnecessary spend.
    • Achieve cost savings through the strict application of governance principles and standards in procurement.
    • Provide expert assistance in life-of-mine planning initiatives, regularly interrogating procurement transactions to ensure validity and necessity.
    • Offer financial insights as a value-add function and report on procurement progress, contributing to functional budget constraints.
    • Attend to audit requests and ensure prompt conversion from requisition to purchase orders using SAP MasterData.
    • Continuously monitor supplier PO acknowledgments, drive effective expediting based on company rules, and ensure purchases adhere to approved catalogues.
    • Implement strategic initiatives for continuous procurement process improvement, providing expert guidance, influencing stakeholders, and advising on optimal resource usage.
    • Work closely with operational teams to understand required products and services and strive towards optimal automation of basic procurement processes.
    • Identify and implement controls to reduce fraud risks, create effective MRPs globally, and ensure consistency in procurement functions.
    • Define and implement procurement data strategies, evaluate and improve procurement process effectiveness, and ensure compliance with country laws.
    • Perform ad-hoc analyses, play a liaison role for vendor audits, and provide high levels of support and advice to internal stakeholders on procurement management.
    • Offer technical support, advice, and data provision on request, establishing, implementing, and maintaining an effective technical problem resolution platform.
    • Provide expert compliance advice regarding procurement requests and ensure the strict application of rules.
    • Take responsibility for own development and updating developments in the field, establishing Job Descriptions and expected deliverables of subordinates aligned with company strategic objectives.
    • Manage subordinates' performance, support their learning and growth objectives, and manage training and development interventions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum qualifications include a Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Business Science, Commercial, Finance, or Supply Chain Management. 

    WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 7 years’ proven experience in a compliance and procurement role.
    • Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in managing a team. 
    • Expert knowledge and experience of SAP ERP system.
    • Knowledge of relevant reconciliation tools.
    • Team Leader. 
    • Delivery and service orientated.
    • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
    • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
    • Accountability for team deliverables. 
    • Self-motivated.
    • Ability work under pressure.
