    Job Description

    The incumbent in the role is responsible for developing and reviewing risk management processes and the identification of appropriate controls to manage Health and Safety related risks.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Facilitating Risk Assessments and Critical Task Identification and Analysis (CTA).
    • Managing Catastrophic Hazards and Critical Controls.
    • Developing, reviewing and maintaining Risk Management Procedures.
    • Conducting Risk Management Training.
    • Participating in Risk Based Audits within the Company.

    Senior Risk Analyst

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The Glencore Risk Department is an independent function aiming to control front-line trading. The Risk Department ensures that the risk-reward of the trading books is properly understood by Glencore senior management and that the physical exposure of the business – e.g. oil cargoes, electricity generation, gas deliveries – is correctly valued.

    This position requires the individual to manage a local team of Junior Risk Managers as well as fulfilling risk management responsibilities themselves. They must provide support and have a clear, pro-active approach to communication with the London Risk Managers, Senior Risk Management and traders.

    PRIMARY TASKS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Direct managerial responsibility for a team of 3-5 junior people
    • Risk Managers responsibilities    
    • Ensure accurate and timely entry and maintenance of physical and derivatives trades in the reporting systems. o    Responsible for calculating and running daily risk reports, including calculating and explaining P&L. o    Assisting in the development of new and existing systems, processes and reports. o    Communicate results effectively with traders and senior management Proactively identify and communicate issues and ensure that reports or measurements present a reflection of this
    • Any other ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Educated to degree level at 2.1 or above (or similar), preferable in economics/finance

    WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • 3-7 years of experience in accounting/financial services/commodities trading houses
    • Commodity experience, specifically oil and/or gas is preferable but not required
    • Coding skills in VBA, Python, advantageous
    • Team management experience preferred with the ability to mentor junior members of the team
    • Highly numerate, with good problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Good communication skills – must be able to understand others’ perspectives and relate complex ideas to different groups, including senior management
    • The ability to challenge proposals constructively to help ensure they are robust, whilst maintaining excellent working relationships

    Project Engineer - Witbank

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The incumbent in the role is responsible for managing engineering projects and activities in a safe and efficient manner and to make an effective contribution towards the business’s plan and strategy.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Execute capital projects in a safe and sustainable manner in adherence to agreed timelines, budgets, specifications, and qualities.
    • Executing Civil Engineering designs with an emphasis on haul roads and water management/control structures
    • Verifying and optimising designs in conjunction with consultants and end users.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management will be advantageous.

    Regional Procurement Services Manager (Africa)

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Reporting to and supporting the Copper Africa Transactional Services Lead, this role is responsible for managing and coordinating the complete governance of the global procurement function, providing optimal procurement services to the copper assets and functions and ensure standardization of efficiency of all procurement processes.

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Achieve cost savings for the business through the strict application of governance principles and standards and managing the procurement function to minimize unnecessary spend.

    Production Superintendent – Truck and Shovel (Witbank)

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The incumbent in this role is responsible for overseeing the delivery and execution of the truck and shovel section, focusing on the areas of safety and production, through the selection, development, support and optimal utilisation of people and equipment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implementing and managing resource plans for areas of responsibility and communicating monthly and weekly production targets; and monitoring and offering technical guidance to Supervisors to ensure the safe delivery of production targets.
    • Managing resource capability, allocation, utilisation and driving productivity to deliver the targets.
    • Measuring the performance of Supervisors, providing guidance and coaching through the implementation of good standards and best practice.

    • A relevant degree, Surface Blasting Certificate and a minimum of 2 years’ experience at a Production Supervisor Level.

    • Inspecting the block and ensuring that it is in order for blasting and formally handing over to the blasting team.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    • Either a Grade 12, Surface Blasting Certificate for Coal Mines and a minimum of 5 years’ experience at a Production Supervisor Level; OR
    • A relevant tertiary qualification, Surface Blasting Certificate and a minimum of 2 years’ experience at a Production Supervisor Level.
