• Cenfri is an independent African economic impact agency based in Cape Town. We work to boost economic growth and increase sustainable development in emerging and developing markets. We collaborate with partners to deliver impact through research, capacity building, convening and innovation support in four focus areas: financial sector innovation and inclusive digital transformation.

Overview of role:

• We are looking for highly driven and endlessly curious experienced researchers to join our fast-growing team as research analysts. Joining Cenfri will allow you the opportunity to explore new horizons in respect of economic research – in all areas of economic inclusion, including doing exciting, applied analysis, engaging with key stakeholders and being part of a process to achieve real-world impact and to improve the lives of low-income households on a broad scale across Africa and the developing world.

Key responsibilities:

• Producing high quality desktop research
• Synthesising information and developing insights
• Data cleaning and analysis
• Qualitative consumer research design and analysis
• Professional client and stakeholder engagement
• Applying an analytical and market systems lens to solving problems
• Developing appealing visuals, charts and graphs
• Proposal and report writing

Requirements

• A Masters-level qualification in economics, public policy, international development or other related fields
• A strong interest in research-related activities and a passion for development
• Good quantitative and analytical skills
• Advanced English language skills (verbal and written)
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Strong research and analytical thinking
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
• Willingness and ability to travel within South Africa and abroad
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desired, advantageous skills:

• French speaking
• Exposure to behavioural economics, development economics or international development
• Knowledge of Stata and the analysis of household survey data
• Knowledge of or exposure to Data Science
• Preference will be given to candidates currently residing within South Africa, and Employment Equity candidates.
