    Researcher: Research and Learning Business Line

    The incumbent will be expected to:

    • Carrying out research, including designing surveys, field work both within and outside of South Africa, data cleaning, data entry and analysis.
    • Writing of research reports, policy briefs, and collaborating with CLEAR-AA staff for production of policy briefs, working papers and publication of research.
    • Organising training events, workshops, and assisting with the logistics for learning events.
    • Administrative support, correspondence and reporting as well as writing proposals.
    • Engagement with social media to raise the profile of CLEAR AA, including Twitter and blogging;
    • Publish research article in peer-reviewed channels.

    Requirements:

    • Masters degree in development studies, public and development management, Monitoring and Evaluation or related field of study. PhD qualification is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of three years’ experience in qualitative research including familiarity with current software packages such as NVIVO or Atlas TI and carrying out evidence synthesis
    • In-depth knowledge of African public sector evaluation capacity development.
    • Experience in the field of adult education or general training.
    • Ability to be a team player and comfort in working in a collaborative environment
    • Strong, results-oriented research and analytical skills and ability to find innovative solutions to real world problems
    • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to clearly analyse and explain a complex topic verbally and in writing
    • Attention to detail and knowledge of academic protocols and standards
    • Innovative and strategic thinking ability
    • Strong work ethic and high standards for achievement
    • Published at least three peer-reviewed academic articles.
