    Retail Auditor

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Conduct food safety & health & safety inspections/audits.
    • Coaching / training at client’s sites
    • Summarize and evaluate inspection/audit finding
    • Communicate findings/results of inspections/audits with client site management or appropriate client representatives.
    • Collect food, product or environmental samples from client sites and ship samples to appropriate laboratories for testing.
    • Develop effective work plans for the completion of assigned inspections/audits within a determined time frame.
    • Establish and maintain effective communication with key team members including audit delivery and client teams
    • Perform other duties as requested.
       

    Qualification & Training Requirements

    • Tertiary qualification in a food related discipline with preference to food science, food technology, microbiology, public health or related discipline.
    • Microbiology (can be part of formal qualification)
    • Product and swab sampling procedures for laboratory analysis
    • Health & Safety (level 4)
    • Training in auditor skills
    • Valid South African driver’s licence
       

    Experience & Skills

    • Minimum of 3-year work experience as food safety auditor or quality related role in a food manufacturing environment (post qualification)
    • Familiarity with local food safety regulations
    • Knowledge of food safety basics: temperatures, proper food handling, sanitation, proper cooling methods
    • Working knowledge of current recognized food safety management standards and practices in use (e.g. BRC, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, SANS 10330)
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
       

    The Following Would Be Advantageous

    • Previous retail and restaurant audit experience
    • Train the Trainer or equivalent professional training qualification
    • HACCP training to intermediate level
    • Restaurant / Hospitality operations experience
    • Laboratory experience in pathogen analysis and testing
    • Lead Auditor qualification
