    Revenue Analyst (Location Agnostic)

    Description

    MFS Africa is the leading digital payments hub in Africa, enabling low-cost payments across the continent. The company works in close partnership with mobile network operators and financial institutions to bring simple and relevant payment services to unbanked people. MFS Africa connects over 320 million mobile money users across sub-Saharan Africa through its platform – the MFS Hub. As a B2B company, we enable cross-border payment for mobile money operators, banks, money transfer operators, large corporate and a growing number of SMEs. Our recent partnership with Visa will soon allow us to connect the MFS Hub to Visa.net, effectively connecting African consumers and businesses to the global digital economy. As a technology fintech company, we strive to automate everything we do and run world-class back-office operations spread between Johannesburg, Port-Louis, Accra and soon Nairobi. We also have a compliance team in Johannesburg, London and Port-Louis and are regulated by the FSC in Mauritius and the FCA in the UK.

    The Role

    We are looking for a revenue analyst to join the newly formed Credit arm of the Finance Team. The Finance Team functions across the organization, inclusive of Mobile Network Operators, Money Transfer Organizations, Enterprise clients as well as B.I.G (Banks, Institutions and Governments).

    The revenue analyst will work closely with Commercial pricing and Commercial teams, IT and Finance teams in enhancing the calculations underpinning the revenue line, as well as ensuring precision in its implementation. Pricing analysis on credit lending terms may form part of the role at some stage.

    This position is location agnostic, with the current team based in the UK, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Mauritius, and South Africa.

    The duties and responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

    • Enhancing the revenue line through analysis and insight, thereby ensuring greater competitiveness and profitability

    • Work with the Commercial team to understand and give input into the formulation of the pricing structures negotiated with partners

    • Ensure the pricing structures are accurately captured on the billing platform and are kept up to date

    • Engaging key stakeholders, attending relevant forums and committees, and staying abreast with company strategy and industry movements

    • Providing historical trend analysis of revenue figures by lines of business, geographical location etc., and discussing possible future trends with the commercial BU’s.

    • Working with the reconciliation and settlements team to ensure that the expected revenue line is reached within their processes

    • Ensuring revenues are captured accurately and timeously in the accounting system.

    • Ensuring calculations are implemented within the IT platforms with precision and sound testing, exception reporting quality control

    • Check that commissions and foreign exchange margins are calculated correctly by the billing platform, and discuss any changes required with the development team

    • Ability to work with big data as well as high volume, low value data preferred

    Qualifications and experience

    • Minimum Bachelors’ Degree, preferably in Finance, Credit, Technology, Statistics or similar

    • At least 2 years of experience in a Finance or similar role

    • Sound analytics/financial analytics experience

    • Experience in ensuring that calculations are correctly embedded in IT platforms

    • Experience working remotely and/or in a globally dispersed team

    • Pan-African exposure is a bonus
