    Risk & Quality (R&Q) Manager

    Job Purpose

    • To manage the country Risk and Quality area by ensuring effective governance and providing support to the xLos R&Q Director and South Market Area (SMA)/Country Risk Management Partner (RMP) in the following areas: Firm-wide risk management, compliance with the Ethics and Compliance Standards (E&C).
    • To coordinate firm-wide activities required for QMSE purposes.
    • To assist with adhoc projects as and when required.
    • Assist with managing the Acceptance tool
    • Assist with reporting of xLoS R&Q activities

    Scope and Dimensions of the role

    • The jobholder is expected to assist the lead of the Risk Management function and create a risk awareness culture in the firm by formally bringing the consideration of risk into strategic decision making.
    • They will be expected to provide support to the SMA RMP, country LoS RMPs, xLoS R&Q Associate Director and the Africa Central Associate Director in the areas of risk management and quality as and when required.
    • They is expected to ensure that all applicable risk management standards are embedded in the firm’s day to day processes
    • The jobholder is expected to implement Global and Africa compliance processes and procedures locally to ensure absolute adherence.
    • The jobholder is expected to review country/LoS risk management processes on a regular basis, and prepare reports accordingly.
    • They is expected to participate in rolling out within the country, any risk management standards and initiatives
    • They will be the one reference point for the Africa Associate Director to obtain assurance that R&Q policies and procedures are effective in the firm.
    • They will be required to perform a gap analysis of Ethics and Compliance Standards
    • They will provide support in managing the Client and Engagement acceptance tool and reporting

    Responsibilities

    • To support the xLoS R&Q Associate Director and SMA Risk Management Partner in all Risk, & Quality matters.
    • To be responsible for the development and management of all matters relevant to R&Q within the firm. This includes all processes and procedures relating to the Ethics and Compliance Standards.
    • To work with the Africa ERM Senior Manager in maintaining an enterprise risk register for the South Africa firm and ensure there is an effective process in place for monitoring, reviewing, mitigating and reporting key business risks.
    • To develop an annual action plan for the Ethics and Compliance Standards, monitor progress and ensure timely action is taken to address these.
    • To produce reports on a monthly/quarterly basis for the Management Committee Team (Manco) on R&Q activities, compliance results and issues.
    • To provide the SMA Risk Management Partner the needed comfort to satisfactorily sign off all applicable RMS at the year end.
    • To ensure that developments in R&Q are communicated in-country.
    • To be an effective member of the Africa R&Q team by taking part in Africa R&Q initiatives
    • To coordinate country LoS risk management teams and monitor compliance with LoS RMS.
    • To ensure the Ethics and Compliance Standards are tailored for any local requirements and are communicated to all partners and staff on a regular basis.
    • To ensure the firm has fully implemented all processes in accordance with the Global Ethics and Compliance programme.
    • To ensure the firm has adequate training and communication programme in place to enable partners and staff to be sufficiently aware of R&Q issues.
    • To ensure that all new joiners are briefed on the firm's R&Q requirements through input into training programmes
    • To assist with managing day to day xLoS R&Q activities.

    Job knowledge, skills and experience

    The jobholder must have:

    • Substantial experience in a related business environment in a similar role
    • Strong business insight and good customer relationship skills
    • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal customers
    • Demonstrable risk awareness exposure
    • Strong project management skills
    • Demonstrable strategic thinking skills and experience operating at a strategic level
    • Good communication, influencing and negotiation skills
    • Decision-making skills and reporting on complex issues
    • Ability to exploit IT systems and to develop effective information networks and management information
    • Good conflict management skills
    • Demonstrate the ability to lead by example, manage, motivate and develop staff
    • CA(SA) advantageous
