Rondebosch, CT | Au Pair | R19000 at Au Pair Extraordinaire

• Area: Rondebosch
• Ages: 16 Month old son 
• Working hours: Mon Thurs 08:00 17:00 and Fri 08:00 16:00
• Duties: The candidate will have to take care of our son at our house for 5 days a week until end February 2027. The candidate will have to entertain our son by using flash cards to teach him the basics, reading books, playing with his toys, playing with clay, walking, assisting with his naps, changing his nappies (perhaps assist with potty training should the candidate remain in our employment long term), feeding him (perhaps assist with making his breakfast / lunch with the ingredients supplied) etc. From 01 March 2027, he got accepted into Dove Cottage and they have a phasing-in program.
• He will start going to the school 3 days of the week in the beginning (half days) until he can go for all 5 days of the week. The candidate will then have to assist with morning drop-offs/mid-afternoon pick-ups and the time that our son is at home, resume the duties as mentioned aforesaid.

Requirements: 

• Aged between 23 35 years old
• Prefereably someone who has some tertiary training in childcare, education etc
• Has to have previous experience in working with babies/younger children.
• We are a bilingual family (Afrikaans and English). It would be beneficial if the candidate can speak / write in both, but not a strict requirement. The candidate must be fluent in English (writing and speaking).
• She must be hands-on, gentle in her caring, proactive and innovative when it comes to ideas of entertaining our son.
• The candidate must have some sort of basic CPR training and/or be able to deal with difficult / stressful situations should something happen whilst taking care of our son.
• Valid driver's license. 
• Start date: 01 September 2026 – 01 September 2027 – 1 year contract with the possibility of extension.
• Salary: R19000 per month (gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.95) for any driving done directly for the family. Not to get to and from work.

All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:

• Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
• Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
• Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
• Must have a clear criminal record
• Must have a passion for children
• Must have Matric
• Must have a South African ID document.
