    Safety Officer

    Job Description

    • A leading modular construction company is looking for an experienced Safety Officer with strong experience in SHEQ management, occupational health, and environmental compliance to join their team in Klipriver. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with SHEQ standards, conducting risk assessments, managing incident investigations, and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct and review risk assessments and method statements.
    • Manage legal appointments, training, and competency requirements.
    • Lead crisis management and accident/incident investigations.
    • Liaise with contractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
    • Organize and participate in safety meetings and SHE Committee responsibilities.
    • Maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 compliance.
    • Oversee fire equipment inspections and emergency preparedness drills.
    • Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations, medicals, and hygiene audits.
    • Manage First Aiders, training schedules, and first aid stock levels.
    • Conduct employee inductions and refresher training.
    • Manage SHE Representatives and consolidate monthly safety statistics.
    • Develop toolbox talks and ensure SHEQ files and documentation are up to date.
    • Support SHEQ information needs for tenders.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12.
    • SAMTRAC/SHEMTRAC or NEBOSH.
    • Additional safety-related courses (e.g., investigation, HIRA).
    • SACPCMP registration.
    • 2–3 years’ relevant working experience.
    • Strong knowledge of SHEQ management systems, legislation, COIDA, and risk management principles.
    • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and administrative ability.
