Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Officer / Manager to lead and drive health and safety compliance across their operations, ensuring a safe, compliant, and productive working environment.
Requirements
Sound knowledge of all applicable health and safety legislation within a manufacturing environment
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential. Experience within the forestry industry will also be considered
Strong, assertive personality with the confidence to enforce safety standards, address non-compliance, and challenge management where decisions may compromise safety or legislative compliance
Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing a Safety Coordinator
Being qualified to facilitate legislative health and safety training (e.g., Safety Representative Training) would be highly advantageous
Proven ability to develop and implement SOPs, work instructions, toolbox talks, and other safety documentation
Hands-on approach with a proven ability to identify issues, implement practical solutions, and take ownership of resolving them—not simply make recommendations
Experience managing legal appointments, safety committees, audits, inspections, compliance monitoring, incidents, and IOD investigations, and reporting
Computer-literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office
Resourceful and practical, with the ability to deliver results and maintain high safety standards despite limited resources
