Safety Officer/Manager - Howick at Accountancy Placements

• Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Officer / Manager to lead and drive health and safety compliance across their operations, ensuring a safe, compliant, and productive working environment.

Requirements

• Sound knowledge of all applicable health and safety legislation within a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential. Experience within the forestry industry will also be considered
• Strong, assertive personality with the confidence to enforce safety standards, address non-compliance, and challenge management where decisions may compromise safety or legislative compliance
• Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing a Safety Coordinator
• Being qualified to facilitate legislative health and safety training (e.g., Safety Representative Training) would be highly advantageous
• Proven ability to develop and implement SOPs, work instructions, toolbox talks, and other safety documentation
• Hands-on approach with a proven ability to identify issues, implement practical solutions, and take ownership of resolving them—not simply make recommendations
• Experience managing legal appointments, safety committees, audits, inspections, compliance monitoring, incidents, and IOD investigations, and reporting
• Computer-literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office
• Resourceful and practical, with the ability to deliver results and maintain high safety standards despite limited resources
