    Sales Manager

    Job Description

    At J&M Famous Biltong our sales manager is a key member of the executive team that drives sales of biltong to the national retail trade in South Africa. We are looking for a strong leader who has a proven track record in this role and who can keep growing our sales revenue, as well as manage a team of sales representatives. Our ideal manager must have in-depth knowledge and experience with the sales process, lead generation, relationship building and closing deals. J&M requires a leader who has the ability to coach, advise and motivate a high performing sales team.

    Objectives of the role

    • To achieve monthly sales targets and execute key account objectives through implantation of the sales strategies according to company and brand policy, guidelines and budget.
    • To manage, implement and monitor promotional pricing according to the key account and category management strategy negotiating trade terms, promotions, promotional grids, pricing and new listings.
    • To negotiate and improve ‘forward share’ in stores through pro-active key account trade visits and interactions.
    • To maintain regular trade visits and ensure that the sales team execute brand/key account strategies accordingly.
    • To communicate best practice trade initiatives to the sales team ensuring timeous and effective execution thereof.
    • To manage the design, production and distribution of a wide range of point of sale.
    • To create, produce, manage and execute campaigns and deals in trade.
    • To prepare monthly trade reports and monitoring competitor pricing.
    • To conduct and chair regular sales meetings.
    • To provide forecasting and reporting against sales budgets as well as managing expense budgets with support of the finance team.
    • Manage the annual sales business plan with input from sales representatives and key account contacts.

    Staff Management

    • To manage the performance and development of the sales team through regular formal evaluations ensuring that each individual is aware of their achievements against targets.
    • To provide leadership that through effective communication motivates, coaches and mentors sales team to optimum performance levels and ensures staff retention.
    • To assess training and development requirements of all sales staff and action essential interventions.
    • To ensure all hand-held electronic devices are used to their full potential, looked after and where necessary further training is encouraged.
    • To participate in staff selection and appointment as and where the need arises according to company policy.

    • Ability to be a team player in a dynamic, fast paced FMCG environment.

    Qualifications/Experience

    • Relevant bachelor’s degree.
    • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
    • Proven track record of success in sales cycle from plan to close.
    • Superb leadership.
    • Ability to travel.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
