Section Engineer - Opencast at Hire Resolve

Description:

• Hire Resolve's Client is currently looking for an experienced Section Engineer (Opencast) to join their mining company based in the Northern Cape.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, standards, and site policies.
• Develop and maintain a risk register for the engineering function, including appropriate risk ratings and mitigation measures.
• Implement and monitor actions to ensure compliance with the organisation’s maintenance management policies and standards.
• Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, ensuring expenditure is effectively controlled.
• Implement and monitor life cycle costing (LCC) to support accurate forecasting and planning of component replacements.
• Ensure the engineering workshop is adequately equipped with the necessary tools, equipment, and resources to enable safe and effective maintenance practices.
• Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on recurring breakdowns and premature equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Effectively manage the roles, responsibilities, and performance of engineering personnel.
• Establish an appropriate labour structure and ensure vacancies are filled within reasonable timeframes.
• Proactively manage workplace conflict, disciplinary matters, and grievances, while monitoring trends and implementing appropriate interventions.
• Establish and maintain systems for the effective management and monitoring of on-site suppliers and contractors.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• GCC Mines & Works
• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years' experience (POST GCC) within an opencast mining environment
• Experience working with TMMs
• Valid Driver's License
