Senior Accountant Cashbook and Arrangements and Reporting at Gamagara Local Municipality

Requirements:

• National Diploma/BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, Local Government Finance or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience in municipal cashbook administration, banking, financial reporting or revenue management. Valid Code B Driver’s License, Proficiency in MS Office applications. Excellent organizational and administrative skills; Excellent organizational and administrative skills; Excellent analytic and problem-solving ability; High level of integrity, responsibility and confidentiality; Have ability to give attention to detail and be able to work under pressure; Report writing; Communication Skills; Ability to deal with conflict situations; Excellent Negotiation skills.

Duties:

• Coordinating and managing the municipal cashbook and banking functions; ensuring the accurate recording and reconciliation of cashbook transactions and bank accounts; coordinating banking and investment arrangements; administering municipal rates clearance figures and clearance certificates in accordance with the Municipal Property Rates Act and other applicable legislation; preparing cash flow, statutory and management reports; ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, GRAP and municipal policies; supervising staff; resolving cashbook, banking and clearance-related queries; and maintaining accurate financial records and reporting.
