Senior Artisan (Engineering) at City of Cape Town

Requirements 

• Trade Tested Fitter and Turner, Turner Certificate 
• NTC 3 trade theory will be an added advantage
• 3- 5 years post apprenticeship experience in a mechanical maintenance related field
• Valid Code B/EB Driver’s license or higher
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety act
• Compulsory to work overtime and outside normal working hours and weekends when required.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be physically fit and able bodied.
• Compulsory standby duties

Key Performance Areas

• Fabricating with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Preforms specific pre-work, site requirements with regards to installations, repairs and planned predictive maintenance sequences and guides the activities of personal.
• Repairing, Fabricating, Cutting, and installing steel structures, pipe sections and associated components using various welding techniques/ procedures
• Measuring, developments and sketching of structures, pipe sections, adaptors and associated components as well as interpret drawings.
• Ensure compliance of OHSACT requirements and related safety controls such as work permits, lock out procedures, etc.
• Supervise, couching and mentoring junior staff, identifying staff skills gaps and activate training needs aimed at closing the gaps and capacitating individuals.
• Addressing workplace conflicts /misconduct
