Senior Civil Engineer at DRA Global

We are looking to attract and retain the services of a Senior Civil Project Engineer at our Sunninghill branch.

• The role is responsible for the management of design (including preparation of drawings and specifications) and construction of civil engineering works, structures and infrastructure (including buildings). Engineering

• Ensures that innovative civil/structural detailed designs are completed following good engineering practices and in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation (quality of design).
• Provides design interface between disciplines.
• Ensures (certified) design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is accurate and interfaces with other designs.
• Ensures effective (peer) review and approval of discipline design is completed.
• Ensure continuous improvement, lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented.
• Carries the responsiblity for the engineering discipline sign off.
• Interfaces with internal and external design and drafting disciplines.
• Provides discipline inputs for studies and proposals.
• Provides engineering support to the site team.
• Performs commissioning discipline activities.
• Manages the mark-up and back draughting of redline drawings.
• Mentors subordinators if applicable.

Operational Management

• Provides input into all SHE matters, actively participate and promote a total safety culture.
• Ensures that relevant project procedures are complied with.
• Ensures that fabrication, manufacturing and construction drawings are issued according to project programme.
•  Manages the programme (time), cost, quality, risk and scope of assigned procurement packages.
• Ensures assigned packages are installed / constructed in accordance with the project & vendor specifications.
• Manages, inspect and release the relevant items of procurement, fabrication and construction within area of discipline and responsibility.
• Assists with the commissioning of the assigned packages in accordance with the project & vendor specifications.
• Ensures that reports are structured, accurate, complete and well presented.
• Displays proactive communication with project team with respect to discipline interface and problem solving.

Financial

• Manages personal and design/draughting budget man-hours
• Manages budget as allocated per discipline/procurement package
• Ensures designs produced are in accordance with capital budget and quantities
• Ensures suitable contract management is applied to managed procurement packages
• Ensures proper change management procedure is adhered to

Client Relations

• Ensures that all interactions with Clients are conducted in professional and respectful manner.
• Ensures that Clients are kept informed and up to date on status of project technical aspects.
• Ensures that DRA remains the Clients engineering service provider of choice.
• Liaises and co-ordinates with the client’s discipline engineers to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.

Qualifications:             

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering with 10 to 15 years related experience - Essential
• Professional Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer - Essential
• PMP - Advantageous
