    Senior Cloud Engineer

     This role will focus on designing and developing enterprise cloud capabilities and solutions for all cloud service types; IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. This includes collaborating with the Infrastructure, Technology Risk Management and Application Development organisations during design and development phases, providing guidance, interpretation, and engineering expertise.

    The role will also focus on the overall project technical and architecture design, cost effectiveness, quality of solution, knowledge transfer, and mentoring of the project technical team members. Lastly, the role will be keenly aware of cloud computing industry trends with regards to technology and adoption while also being proficient in the understanding of and application of various automation related tools and languages.

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Contributing to and supporting the corporate Enterprise Cloud strategy, standards and best practices associated with all aspects Cloud offerings
    • Contributing to and supporting the corporate adoption of the DevOps methodology and Agile project management
    • Providing expert level design and engineering support towards the successful delivery of IT’s cloud project portfolio
    • Overseeing the organisation’s cloud computing strategy
    • Contributing towards continual service improvement activities related to the delivery of cloud services
    • Developing and implementing internal systems, processes, and best practices to be used by other teams, designed to increase productivity
    • Participating in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, cost effectiveness and high availability in the cloud
    • Designing, implementing, and testing disaster recovery and business continuity architecture
    • Creating and implementing automation in the form of infrastructure as code for cloud platform solutions
    • Ensuring that all infrastructure components meet proper performance and capacity standards
    • Analysing in-house systems for potential migration to the cloud
    • Projecting the potential costs, benefits and return on investment (ROI) of cloud computing adoption
    • Managing a mix of cloud environments, i.e., public, private and hybrid cloud solutions

    Education:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Microsoft MCSE certification
    • ITIL 3 Foundation,
    • BCom / BTech / BSC or relevant years’ experience (beneficial)
    • Google Professional Cloud Architect
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

    Experience:

    • In-depth, practical experience with Cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, trends and industry-leading cloud vendor offerings
    • ITIL Service Management Experience
    • Experience in IT Infrastructure Platforms
    • 5+ years’ experience in IT platform, storage, networking, and virtualisation engineering
    • 4+ years practical experience designing, building, and automating solutions utilizing Azure or GCP Services
    • Experience in architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions with robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recover requirements
    • 5+ years’ experience in the design and implementation of distributed applications (preferred)

    Knowledge:

    • Understanding key cyber security concepts and their impact on serverless resources
    • Proven knowledge of general business principles and practices, including financial and people management
