Key Responsibility Areas:

• Undertakes or assists with any environmental research or environmental project that may be required. 
• Liaises with government, community, business or institutional representatives in environmental planning and management matters.
•  Assists with the preparation of Ethekiwini Municipalitys environmental input into provincial environmental management and implementation plans. 
• Assist with preparing reports and correspondence.
•  Provides support in the management of information. 
• Undertakes assigned tasks related to the preparation, approval, monitoring and review of environmental policy and plans. 
• Undertakes the technical aspects of environmental planning and policy development.
•  Responds to or re-directs enquiries from the public on environmental management matters.

Job Purpose:

• To provide technical support and assistance to the members of the Sustainable and Resilient City's Initiative Unit in the preparation and implementation of an IDP compliant Environmental Management System.

• Undertakes assigned tasks related to strategic environmental planning.
• Contributes to the preparation of EMs environmental input into provincial environmental management and implementation plans.
• Liaises with government, community, business or institutional representatives in environmental planning and management matters.
• Undertakes the provision, management and manipulations of information.
• Undertakes tasks related to the preparation, approval, monitoring and review of environmental policy and plans.
• Undertakes the technical aspects of environmental planning and policy development.
• Undertakes project management.
• Attends and participates in meetings and hearings.
• Overseeing, managing, training and mentorship of more junior technical staff and students.
• Undertakes related assignments.

•  3 Years relevant experience.
• Computer Literacy.

• 4 Years relevant experience.

• Bachelor of Science Degree (NQF Level 7) in Environmental Science or Environmental Management or any other related and equivalent qualification., 
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
