This position will serve as the lead Finance Business Partner to the Chief Executive: Commercial and Chief Executive: People Support, providing strategic financial leadership, insight, and support across the Commercial and People Support portfolios. The role is responsible for overseeing management reporting, quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting, and three-year strategic planning, while ensuring strong financial governance and operational finance management.
The Senior Finance Manager (Commercial) will support financial performance and decision-making across key business areas including Cellular, PEPMoney, Paxi, People Support functions, Value Added Services and Accounts Receivables. Through insightful analysis, commercial guidance, and effective team leadership, the role supports sustainable growth, cost optimisation, and alignment of financial outcomes with the broader business strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare business cases, financial models and commercial analyses for new initiatives, products and capital investments.
Provide insights that enhance the business’s understanding of financial performance, trends and key value drivers.
Participate in executive discussions, strategic planning and cross-functional decision-making.
Collaborate with other finance leaders to drive transformation initiatives, optimise resources and resolve strategic challenges.
Oversee the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, income statements and financial analyses for Commercial, People Support, Accounts Receivables and Value Added Services.
Analyse financial and operational performance, including gross margin drivers, revenue, costs and key operational metrics.
Oversee the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts across Commercial, People Support, Accounts Receivables and Value Added Services.
Lead the preparation of the Commercial and People Support financial budget and three-year strategic financial plan, including supporting analysis and stakeholder engagement.
Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting processes and controls.
Partner with system developers to translate business requirements into effective financial solutions.
Requirements
A BCOM degree (with Accounting major) or equivalent
CIMA or Chartered Accountant (SA) with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience advantageous
10 - 12 years of financial and management reporting experience preferably in a retail environment and/or commercial environment
Commercially astute, articulate, strong technical skills, insightful and an influential leader impacting at both strategic and operational level
Proven senior leadership and team management experience
