    Senior Geologist

    Job Summary 

    The incumbent in the role is responsible for assisting in the safe and cost-effective extraction of the Glencore Coal South Africa’s coal resources and reserves by generating, processing, interpreting and reporting of geological information using Geological Models and relevant software in a format that can be utilised for optimal mine planning and eventual economic extraction.

     Key Responsibilities:

    • Constructing of Geological Models.
    • Designing and coordinating prospecting programs.
    • Designing and managing of geological systems.
    • Writing of geology reports for Merges & Acquisitions, Competent Persons Report, Mine Works Program and project documents.
    • Managing the GeoBank database.
    • Assisting in optimising Coal Quality and product simulations.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bsc Honours Degree in Geology.
    • SACNASP registration will be advantageous.

    Minimum Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Geology Coal Mining and Exploration Environment of which 2 years should be in a C-Upper Grade Controller role.
    • Experience and proficiency in geological modelling (MINEX, Coal Quality Simulation Modelling Software, Global Information Systems, CAD Software Packages) and applying geostatistical principles.
    • Proficiency with geological database design and management.
