Proven proficiency in Geographical Information Systems (ESRI suite) and Microsoft Office
Sound knowledge of GIS principles, relational databases, cartography, spatial data management, and data analysis.
Knowledge of the Human Settlements and/or Spatial Planning environment would be advantageous.
Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Eligibility for registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) in the appropriate category would be advantageous.
Valid Code EB driver's licence.
Key Performance Areas
Provide an efficient GIS support service to the Human Settlements Directorate, including map production, data capturing, data analysis, and technical support.
Compile professional spatial reports, cartographic maps, dashboards, and map books.
Capture, edit, maintain, and quality-control spatial datasets within geodatabases.
Respond to internal and external enquiries by providing maps, spatial analysis, and data extracts.
Provide a technical support service through research and continuous learning to remain abreast of the latest GIS trends, technologies, and best practices.
Assist with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of GIS applications, datasets, and reporting tools.
Develop and maintain sound working relationships with internal departments, external stakeholders, and service providers.
Ensure GIS data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with organisational standards and procedures.
