    Senior Industrial Relations Officer

    Introduction

    The role of the Senior IR Officer is to represent the organisation at negotiations with unions or employer bodies concerning employment conditions. Responsible for interpreting and complying with labour legislation governing conditions of employment. Ensures that labour disputes and grievances are finalised.  Manage the collective negotiations on issues like compensation, employee welfare, health care, pensions and management practices.

    Minimum Requirements and Skills

    • Related Degree
    • Good Communication skills(verbal and written)
    • Prior experienced in employee relations or industrial relations
    • Strong experience in dealing with unions
    • Strong knowledge of HR policies & procedures
    • In depth knowledge of employment legislations
    • Strong problem solving, negotiation & influencing skills
    • Fluent in English

    Job Specification

    • Managing relationships with unions & ensuring that the company’s treatment of employees is consistent with its core business values and objectives.
    • Handling complaints, managing grievance procedures, and facilitating counselling in conjunction with other stakeholders.
    • Investigating and resolving complex or critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
    • Collating and analysing employee feedback across all levels on a regular basis and revising people programs and policies to generate more positive outcome.
    • Participating in and/or leading projects focused on continuous improvement.
    • Monthly reporting on all IR matters
    • Represent company at CCMA and all other institutions.
    • Support senior managers in providing IR training.
    • Ensure that all risks are identified.
    • Drafting of all IR/HR related policies and employment contract.
