Senior IT Technician at Orion Hotels & Resorts

About the Role:

• We are looking for a Senior IT Technician with at least 5 years of experience in desktop and networking support to end users.  As a Senior IT Technician, you will focus on managing and enhancing IT infrastructure to support organizational objectives. 
• This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of technological services while providing guidance and support to junior technicians and end-users.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot IT systems and networks to ensure optimal performance.
• Install, configure, and upgrade hardware and software components in line with best practices.
• Conduct regular system audits and prepare detailed reports on performance and issues.
• Provide technical support and training to users, enhancing their understanding of IT tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IT projects, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
• Develop and implement IT policies and procedures in line with industry standards.
• Lead and mentor junior IT staff, sharing expertise and fostering professional growth.
• Respond promptly to escalated support requests from team members and users.

Requirements:

• Proven track record in IT support and maintenance, preferably in a dynamic environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills combined with a solid understanding of network infrastructure.
• Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and Linux, and experience with virtualisation technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Demonstrable experience with IT security protocols and data protection measures.
• Driver's license and own reliable vehicle essential
• This role involves driving out to our various sites on occasion, so the successful candidate must be prepared to travel and be away from home for a night or two each month.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification essential
• CompTIA N+, N+ qualifications
• Microsoft Certified, Cisco Certified Network Associate or equivalent IT related tertiary qualification
• Experience in project management or leading IT initiatives
• Knowledge of cloud computing services and emerging technologies.
• Understanding of software development principles and integration practices.
