The Faculty of Natural Sciences, offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines including Statistics and Population Studies. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and willing to make a significant contribution to the development of the department and Faculty.

The Department of Statistics and Population Studies is hosted in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and has two axes around which it focusses, namely Statistics and Population Studies. Staff and students in the department are actively engaged in both teaching the next generation of leaders and/or leading-edge research in the two fields.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:

• Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Population Studies with specific focus on Population Projections, Population Development and Reproductive Health
• Conduct research and publish on topics related to Population Studies/Demography
• Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
• Provide academic leadership and administration
• Undertake curriculum development and assessment
• Participate in community engagement and outreach

Minimum Requirements

• PhD or equivalent in the field of Population Studies/Demography
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching, in the field of Population Studies/Demography
• A record of quality peer reviewed publications in high impact journals, in the field of Population Studies/Demography
• A record of successful postgraduate supervision
