PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

• The teaching of undergraduate & postgraduate students, research, and supervision of postgraduate students; organisational & management tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching:

• Teaching undergraduate & postgraduate students.

Research:

• Conducting research and supervision of postgraduate students.

Organisational & management tasks:

• Assist with management tasks.

Social Responsiveness:

• Involvement in community engagement projects; subject specific societies; review of scholarly publications.tific

Minimum requirements

• A PhD (NQF level 10) in Mathematics with a focus on Functional Analysis, Algebra, Topology, Number Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Differential Geometry, Potential Theory, Approximation Theory, Functional Analytic PDEs & Orthogonal Polynomials.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate students at university level.
• Proven research record.
• Involvement in community engagement projects; subject specific societies; review of scholarly publications.

RECOMMENDATIONS / ADDED ADVANTAGES:

• Membership with the South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) or the American Mathematical Society (AMS).
