    Senior Manager - Commercial ICT Center of Excellence

    Responsibilities
    Strategy Development and Implementation

    • Lead the delivery of an effective commercial strategy, aligned to priority industry sector and customer needs to deliver new revenue streams ensuring pricing and bid management capability for regional sales are successfully executed.
    • Lead, create and manage deals from pre-sales to proposal and delivery, stitching together appropriate assets and contributing to commercial modelling.
    • Ensure that proposals submitted by OpCos meet global standards of excellence and quality.
    • Use priority target client’s needs as the catalyst to innovate solutions, partnering with the client where possible.
    • Responsible for spearheading solution development and commercialisation, aligning relevant pre-sales, solution sales, and solution architecture experts from Converged Solution functional teams to deliver accelerated, market relevant propositions in a Minimum Viable product (MVP) mode.
    • Develop and implement commercial and pricing strategies to support regional sales efforts, ensuring alignment with broader MTN SA goals.
    • Collaborate with the Commercial and Pricing teams to create and refine pricing models that meet market demands while optimising profitability.
    • Design and implement bid management processes that improve the efficiency and quality of proposals submitted by the OpCos.
    • Ensure that all commercial proposals are aligned with the Converged Solution and MTN SA long-term strategic goals, taking into account market trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
    • Operational Delivery
    • Ensure the seamless execution of commercial and pricing activities, delivering high-quality bids and proposals that align with customer needs and business objectives.
    • Lead effective demand management to drive seamless project request/evaluation/approval/planning.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the commercial and bid management function, ensuring that processes are efficient and aligned with best practices.
    • Collaborate with sales, legal, and finance teams to ensure that all bids and proposals meet contractual, legal, and financial requirements.
    • Develop and manage the budget for the commercial and bid management function, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to support sales efforts.
    • Monitor financial performance related to pricing and bid management activities, ensuring alignment with company financial goals and profitability
    • targets.
    • Continuously improve operational processes related to bid management, pricing, and proposal development to drive efficiency and quality.
    • Budget Management
    • Provide input into and review the budget, ensuring that it provides MTN with return on investment, and obtain approval thereof.
    • Develop and manage project initiative budgets in line with business objectives
    • Manage and optimise and communicate the budget, expense report, ensuring that all expenditure is in line with the budget.
    • Monitor costs and determine initiatives to optimize resources. Ensure cost effectiveness by maximising cost/benefit ratios.
    • Identify opportunities to generate additional revenue.
    • Base annual budgets on the identification of trends and patterns within the current operations and extrapolate these over the next planning cycle,
    • taking any known changes in new products or services into consideration

    Governance, Policies and Procedures

    • Ensure effective implementation of (and compliance towards) company policies, processes, and procedures. Put effective methods and standards in place in alignment with aforementioned
    • Manage and provide solutions to escalations that have multiple processes / functions impact on critical path of service delivery
    • Continuously review key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions. Proactively flag and escalate issues and manage impacts on resources, cost and productivity
    • Check, analyse and understand regulatory and technological environments and shifts which impact the business, continuously.
    • Ensure that processes and programmes are in place to prevent and mitigate fraud and organised crime so as to achieve measurable results for channel growth and fraud reduction and risk mitigation
    • Continuous Improvement
    • Drive best practice, continuous improvement and innovation at process and procedure level within Converged Solutions
    • Ensure that the relevant analysis of market knowledge, trends and competitive information is gathered and assimilated
    • Ensure competitors benchmarking and gap analysis is performed as appropriate and incorporated into business operations
    • Initiate change to continually improve all aspects of service delivery and drive continuous improvement as an important element of service delivery.
    • People Leadership/ Management
    • Attract, develop and retain appropriate talent. Build talent by identifying and developing new leaders for the respective environment
    • Create and implement personal development plans
    • Define the divisional KPAs and KPIs that will be cascaded down to each area
    • Manage Performance and identify training needs. Coach and guide subordinates
    • Enable and model healthy employee relations and collaborative teamwork
    • Manage diversity, develop, and embed an Employment Equity plan for the business area
    • Contribute to building a culture of continuous evaluation and improvement. Drive a culture of high performance, accountability and consequence

    Qualifications

    • 3 year degree equivalent / 4-year tertiary qualification (Technical/ Commercial) or related (e.g. Finance, Economics, Business
    • Administration)
    • An MBA or equivalent is advantageous
    • At least 7 years related experience in commercial and pricing management, inclusive of;
    • At least 5 years' experience leading in business development and commercial management.
    • Proven track record of driving revenue growth.
    • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, specifically in proposal and pitch development.
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous.
    • Experience working in a medium to large organisation
    • Demonstrates a deep understanding of technology trends, tools, and platforms, leveraging this knowledge to drive strategic decision-making, optimize solutions, and effectively manage technology-driven projects.
