Summary:
To define, design, implement and maintain appropriate, flexible and robust end-to-end HR & Payroll solution architecture standards and deployment practices for both Massmart divisions and the Massmart Group.
FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning
Together with the HR & Finance Domain Architect, engage the wider HR & Payroll community to ensure understanding of the IT strategy and roll-out thereof
Give input into the development of an appropriate IT strategy to support the Massmart group’s HR & Payroll and reporting strategies
Unpack these IT strategies into operational plans to ensure the practical implementation of the strategy
Embed best practice solutioning standards into project roll-outs and ensure adherence to Massmart’s Architectural Principles and Design Guidelines
Operations
Develop and maintain the HR & Payroll IT solution architecture based on architectural roadmaps and projects in adherence to group standards
Understand current HR & Payroll IT architectures and impact on the group HR & Payroll strategies and guiding principals
Understand the enterprise HR & Payroll landscape to apply Innovation practices to the Group’s current Innovation position
Provide HR & Payroll IT architecture guidance to the HR & Payroll IT and Product team communities
Educate HR & Payroll community on IT framework
Take ownership for risk management specifically concerning group HR & Payroll roadmaps and manage, and avoid, the impact of these on group standards on speed of delivery
Support in providing effective user support (incident and problem management) via vendors or Massmart Group IT, when required
Support system and process changes via formalized procedures (change control and release management), when required
Support an effective change control process to assess and deliver against user requirements (change control management), when required
Support system and change releases to minimize impacts on business operations (release management), when required
Support service level management with Massmart Group IT and vendors (service level management) to ensure high levels of business satisfaction
Provide feedback to Massmart Group IT and vendors on resourcing issues and requirements management
Configuration and Project Management
Perform system configuration for both project deployments and operations, when required.
Assist and support system configuration for both project deployments and operations, when required.
Support the project management and steerco frameworks for HR & Payroll projects.
Facilitate HR & Payroll project prioritization process in consultation with HR & Payroll stakeholders and Demand Management
Translate business requirements into IT projects requirements
Apply change management to ensure high levels of business engagement, buy-in and support for HR & Payroll IT projects.
Support the establishment and maintenance of super user support structures for the HR & Payroll community.
Together with Demand Management and Product Teams, support the benefits tracking realization of HR & Payroll IT projects against approved business cases
Manage project issues and risks primarily focused on primarily focused on HR & Payroll initiatives and operations thereof
Support project and product teams primarily focused on Group HR & Payroll initiatives and operations thereof
Financial, budget and compliance
Achieve Cost Management by:
Assisting in preparation for annual budget
Stakeholder management
Maintain and build effective, professional relationships with third party vendors and service providers that result in timely delivery of requirements and the highest standards of quality and cost effectiveness
Partner with other architects to provide scalable and adaptable architectural solutions
Regularly liaison with Business IT and core Business Stakeholders, to capture voice of customer and understand requirements
Liaison with Walmart IDC to borrow relevant expertise in the area, as required
Knowledge Management
Keep abreast with latest tools, technologies and trends in the area of solution architecture
Requirements:
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position
Strategy definition: 3-5 year
Strategy implementation: 1-3 years
Projects: 1-12 months
Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Information Systems, Computer Science or Related Field.
8+ years’ IT delivery experience, of which at least 3-4 years’ experience as a solution architect
Competencies & Skills
SAP K4 level and above (where applicable)
Experience in developing solution architecture to assist IT solution offerings
Experience with architecture solutions modeling
Experience in IT Application development methodologies and tools
Experience with system integrations standards
Experience in solution prototyping
