    Senior Manager: Technical Reporting

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Senior Manager: Technical Reporting is responsible for establishing and implementing technology reporting tools and processes to report on vital Technology programme metrics for all key stakeholders.

    Measures of success include the delivery of overall reporting for all projects related to Group Technology. Also, must ensure timely tracking and reporting on Technology tools and processes and, the delivery of CTIO presentations.

    MTN is entering a new phase in its lifecycle where operational and commercial excellence has become critical for success. The urgency for change has become more heightened amidst increased competitive intensity across all markets in which MTN operates.  The Group’s Technology function must therefore ensure the successful delivery in context of:

    • Rapidly changing ICT environment
    • The geographic complexity of MTN’s foot print across Africa and the Middle East
    • Management of executive and local shareholder expectations across all 22 OpCos
    • Achievement of top quartile operating efficiency and effectiveness through scale and common processes
    • Driving growth through business intelligence and standardization to maximize business impact
    • Management of customer and supplier expectations
    • Enhance MTN position as a leading network and system provider
    • Constant dynamics and local challenges in the economic, regulatory and legal environments

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

    The Senior Manager: Technical Reporting will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Provides leadership and guidance to the Technical Reporting team to ensure the effective reporting and tracking of all projects within the Group Technology programme.
    • Defines reporting infrastructure and technology requirements and information requirements to ensure a fully encompassed and value adding Group Technology reporting capability.
    • Responsible for ensuring that reports relating to the Group Technology PMO targets and KPI’s are effectively tracked to support the measurement of targets and KPI’s and relays such information to all relevant stakeholders including the General Manager Managed Operations & PMO.
    • Defines reporting tools as well as the supporting processes, in conjunction with key stakeholders, to ensure meaningful and insightful reporting.
    • Ensure the effective implementation of the document repository management for all Technology projects.
    • Defines, in partnership with various stakeholders, the key metrics to be tracked and reported on for the Technology programme.
    • Ensures that data reported on enables the organisation to have a global view of the overall Technology programme and ensures the key stakeholders are able to determine whether initiatives add value in accordance with Technology’s overall strategic goals as well as MTN Groups annual goals and objectives.
    • Ensures that Group Technology Reporting enables all relevant stakeholders to make key decisions and fulfil objectives based on the reporting information provided.
    • Ensures the administration of reporting Governance and Project Steering committees.
    • Engages with all key stakeholders management to ensure effective communication and reporting.

    Key Deliverables

    • Infrastructure and effective management of Group Technology Reporting capability
    • Delivery of all Group Technology programme related reporting
    • Input into Technology Capex and Opex budget tracking and reporting
    • Delivery of CTIO presentations

    Role Dependencies

    • Active support from the Group CTIO, SM: Digital & IT PM, SM: Network & Enterprise, GM: Managed Operations & PMO
    • Deep understanding of the MTN business strategy
    • Understanding of the OpCo technology, business and regulatory context
    • Timely decision making and reporting
    • Alignment of OpCo and Group strategy initiatives

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education:

    • Minimum of 4 year tertiary degree
    • MBA or Masters advantageous
    • Relevant Project Management certification (e.g. Prince 2)
    • Member of Project Management Institute
    • Fluent in English

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years with Managerial level experience
    • Minimum 3 years Project Management experience managing multiple large scale (e.g. enterprise-wide) projects
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous
    • Experience working in a medium to large organisation
