Senior Medical Practitioner at eThekwini Municipality

Job Purpose    

• To coordinate and control the Department’s planning and development to the communicable
• Diseases (Tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/ AIDS act) Health care services and attending to the clinical management and primary health care and providing a consultative service to the nursing personnel at the clinic level in accordance to the requirements of the unit.

Key Responsibility Areas    

• Managing communicable diseases (TB, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/Aids etc.) in the Department.
• Controlling specific procedures and measure pertaining to research and compliance to relevant National, Provincial and Municipal legislation. 
• Coordinating functions associated with the financial and human resources management.
• Contributing to the provision of a high quality clinical service.
• Performing specific activities associated with communication/liaison support with relevant stakeholders

Essential Requirements    

• Registered as a Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA.
• Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
• 5 years clinical experience of which one year must be in the provision of ARV initiation services.
• Computer Literacy. 

Preferred Requirements    

• Relevant post graduate qualification.
• 8 years relevant experience in Communicable disease management.
