Relevant 4 year tertiary qualification preferably in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Environmental or other related Science qualification;
Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in the Marine Science or Oceanography fields advantageous.
Registration with SACNASP as Pr.Sci.Nat
2–5 years of relevant experience post professional registration or 2-5 years post graduate research experience (i.e. MSc research Thesis).
Experience in Environmental or Coastal management, Ocean Governance and Public and Administration advantageous
A valid Code B driver’s licence
Computer literacy: MS Office
Key Performance Areas
Lead the coordination, scientific assessment, and long-term monitoring of coastal water pollution, ensures transparent accurate public reporting and stays abreast of global pollution trends and methodologies to protect coastal waters, inform the public, and ensure methods stay current with global standards.
Report on continual marine biodiversity monitoring along Cape Town coastline to ensure continuation of a resilient and thriving marine environment.
