    Senior Quantitative Analyst 

    AES are proudly supporting one of Africa’s most exciting and innovative Financial Services Institutions. We are looking for a dynamic and talented Analyst to join this award winning company. If you’re driven by excellence, are keen to grow within an exciting role, and would like to join a group of passionate professionals this is the opportunity for you. The Senior Quantitative Analyst will be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, and support for quantitative credit models within the Credit Management department. With a focus on IFRS9 modelling. In this role you will be heavily involved in strategic initiatives. You will engage in Credit rules implementation, working closely with IT, Collections and Sales departments. You will have a lead role in designing and implementing the credit rules integrated in the production environment. As well as propose and implement calculated risks models based on data-driven analytics.

    On the operational side, you will implement credit and modelling standards. Including:

    • Build of credit risk models across classes (PD, LGD, EAD, ECL) under IFRS 9
    • Credit risk scorecard modelling, monitoring and evaluation
    • Credit impairment assessment and due diligence reviews
    • Design and review of risk governance of credit models
    • Designing metrics that support business credit decisions
    • Development of thought leadership material on relevant industry topics

    You will oversee analysis:

    • Monitoring industry activities and trends and recommends changes to credit and business
    • development strategies.
    • Gathers and analyses customer insight
    • Researches and stays abreast of best practice, credit scoring, and model development practices.

    You will work across a variety of levels, up to C-Suite, so you must be able to effectively communicate at various levels.

    • Executives
    • Departmental Heads
    • Credit Committee
    • Internal staff
    • Customers
    • Credit bureaus and regulatory boards

    Education

    • A Minimum of Honours BSc Degree Applied Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Mathematics or any other analytical degree equivalent.

    Experience and Knowledge

    • 4 + years’ experience in IFRS9 model building
    • Must have experience with SAS, SQL and excel
    • Statistical Modelling

    Industry Experience

    • Must have experience in the development of statistical models on various retail portfolios.
    • Including  IFRS 9 expected loss models, impairment LGD and PD models for all retail origination scorecards, fraud scorecards, collection scorecards, behaviour risk models and other risk management models for the retail portfolio
    • Must be able to utilise techniques such as survival analysis, proportional hazards, and regression modelling
