Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a talented senior engineer to join the EC2 Dedicated Host team to build new ways to run workloads in the Cloud and contribute to core components of EC2. This role is well-suited to engineers who blend a strong intuition for customer experience with the technical skills required to design and operate large-scale distributed systems.
Our team has end-to-end ownership of the EC2 Dedicated Host experience. An Amazon EC2 Dedicated Host is a physical server with EC2 instance capacity fully dedicated to your use, allowing customers to leverage their existing licenses while running on EC2. We are looking for engineers who enjoy being part of the whole product lifecycle – from thinking big about opportunities for customers through design and development to maintaining a high bar for operational excellence.
The successful candidate will have strong software engineering experience, with a passion for thinking about, building and operating distributed systems. You will have demonstrated experience working a team to build large-scale systems and taking leadership to make sure your systems work well. You have strong engineering fundamentals, an analytical and data-driven approach to your work, and the ability to collaborate well within and across teams. We move fast and work together on small teams to solve big problems.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field, such as Computer Science or Engineering
• 5+ years’ professional software engineering experience, including experience as a technical lead for a project or team
• Experience building complex, scalable, high-performance software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to build solutions that solve customer needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including understanding an ambiguous problem domain and working across teams to deliver robust and maintainable solutions
• Experience with both Linux- and Windows-based development environments
• Experience migrating critical systems from On-Premises to the Cloud
