Senior Specialist: Entity Controller - JHB at Vodafone Global Enterprise

Your responsibilities will include

Fixed Asset Accounting

• Ensure accurate fixed asset accounting, timely capitalization of projects, monitor daily transactions, review monthly depreciation, and collaborate on asset disposals and movements.
• Supervise and coordinate balance sheet and sub-ledger reconciliations in MAST, manage and resolve exceptions and aged items, review project templates (mainly on Excel), and review applicable SOX controls.
• Analyze data trends, report exceptions to management. Report monthly capital expenditure. Identify and report risks and opportunities.    
• Involve in technology upgrades and changes related to fixed asset accounting.

Month-End Closing (MEC)

• Ensure accurate and complete operational expenditure, depreciation, interest, and balance sheet records. They also provide information to tax, perform month-end management reporting, and review SOX controls.

Operational Expenditure

• Bi-Monthly analysis of operational accounts to identify trends and anomalies
• Journal recommendations based on above analysis to ensure complete and accurate expenditure

Internal Control Environment

• Support the implementation of a strong control environment, ensuring compliance to all relevant group policies.
• Support the implementation of an appropriate SOX controls, internal controls, and compliance requirements surrounding the month-end close and reporting process.

Financial Statements and Statutory Packs

• Support to line manager for separate and consolidated statutory packs and other reporting requirements as part of the interim and year-end close process.
• Support to line manager to ensure internal and external audit requirements are fulfilled.

The ideal candidate for this role will have

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CA (SA), Qualified Chartered Accountant Advantageous.
