Senior Specialist: Planning & Optimisation at Vodacom

Role Purpose

• To provide high-level technical support in the Radio Planning and Optimisation environment and to correct network quality and Radio Planning and Optimisation impacting problems, with a focus on Drive Testing analysis.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Act as team leader for the regional/county planning & optimization team.
• Perform network optimization for the RAN network, by consulting and advising at the Regional and/or County levels.
• Monthly & Certification Drive Test analysis and support to the county radio planning.
• Identification, planning, and implementation of new RAN equipment features and new technology, to improve quality and support rollout.
• Manage higher-order network element capacity, planning & configuration, including future capacity implementation and plans
• Manage new pilots and upgrades for all technologies within the region.
• Liaison with central and regional stakeholders and external contractors.
• Provide Support.
• Manage various high-level projects.
• Manage regional and county cost efficiencies.

The ideal candidate for this role will have

• Matric/ Grade 12 is essential.
• 3 years National Diploma or Degree in Electrical (light current) or Electronic Engineering or a SAQA accredited equivalent in a related field.
• 5+ years experience in a Radio Planning and Optimisation environment within a telecommunications network operator.
• Good knowledge of RF antennas and systems.
• Good knowledge and experience in ATOL planning tool.
• GSM / UMTS / LTE planning and optimization principles.
• Exposure to UMTS / LTE planning & optimization tools.
• Radio environment knowledge (RF).
• Protocol Analysis understanding and knowledge of analysis tools.
• Exposure to IP fundamentals.
• Project Management basic knowledge.
• Nokia Equipment Knowledge is preferable.
