- The role is focused on evaluating MTN’s strategic investment opportunities to support long-term growth and success.
- It involves managing the financial aspects of strategic projects—such as cost, revenue, and profitability—while shaping MTN’s strategy through financial analysis and business benefit assessments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of business cases in the project pipeline.
- Developing financial models, forecasts, budgets, and business plans.
- Managing financial risks and reporting.
- Supporting cross-functional processes to drive revenue growth and cost efficiency.
- Identifying opportunities to reduce costs or increase revenue.
Key Responsibility Areas & Activities
Strategic Project Financial roadmaps
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable financial roadmaps and business cases.
- Support the Strategy and Transformation team with complex financial modeling and analytics.
- Consolidate forecasts and statistics to inform long-term planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Portfolio HOD, Business General managers and Senior managers, procurement, and accounting teams, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Financial Modeling & Business Case Development
- Develop, maintain, and validate financial models for strategic projects.
- Collaborate with business units to assess investment viability and recommend go/no-go decisions.
- Provide expert input into business model development and scenario analysis.
Data Analytics & Insights
- Build and maintain dashboards, reporting systems, and performance metrics.
- Lead the design and delivery of analytical reports that support key business decisions.
- Manage data requests and ensure quality control of insights and outputs.
Financial Reporting & Forecasting
- Prepare and deliver periodic and ad hoc financial reports, including variance analysis, accruals, and forecasts.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data and reporting deliverables.
- Support commercial teams with financial insights and analytics.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Advisory
- Provide financial advice to project managers and senior leadership.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with procurement, accounting, and business teams to ensure alignment and accuracy.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Enforce financial governance standards and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Support internal and external audits related to project finances.
- Participate in risk management activities and monitor financial controls.
Business Analysis & Process Optimization
- Conduct business analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
- Benchmark processes against industry standards and recommend enhancements.
- Design and document workflows to improve operational efficiency.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure financial services meet the evolving needs of internal stakeholders.
- Identify trends in stakeholder requests and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate delays and enhance service delivery.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Promote a customer-centric and collaborative team culture.
- Support and guide analysts and data team members.
- Foster professionalism, adaptability, and alignment with the company’s values.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in the telecommunications or technology sector.
- Strong experience in financial modeling, forecasting, and business case development.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
Certification in -
- SAFe certification is advantageous

- Financial Roadmaps & Approved business cases for the projects Pipieline
- Project financial Planning and benefits delivery: Implement strategic, financial and other information necessary for the effective planning and control of different portfolios of business activities.
- Financial Control and Reporting: Analyse regular financial reports, monthly variance analysis report, state of accruals and forecast. Maintain appropriate recording of all project budget, with timely and accurate such monthly reports.
- Conducting post-implementation reviews of Strategic portfolio of projects to ensure they were financially successful.
