Producing, maintaining and taking responsibility for structural engineering deliverables within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
Developing, maintaining, enhancing and oversight of structural engineering tools, calculations and software used in the course of the structural engineering activities of the Company.
Provide technical structural oversight throughout the project life-cycle, from inception, through feasibility into construction and commissioning.
Assist with coordinating and optimizing structural resources.
Ensure that all structural projects are undertaken in accordance with the Quality Management System.
Effectively interfacing with Clients, project managers, other discipline engineers, design draughts persons and other stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle.
Promote growth and advancement of junior staff by mentoring.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:
Have a BSc / BEng (Civil) Engineering degree;
Be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA;
Have a minimum of 15 years’ appropriate post qualification experience in structural engineering design, related to reinforced concrete and structural steelwork designs of multi-level buildings, industrial plants/structures and water retaining structures;
Possess a detailed understanding of engineering activities required for consulting engineering services, and EPCM contracts;
Have prior experience with the compilation of technical specifications and BOQ’s;
Possess a broad understanding of, and have interacted with other design engineering disciplines, i.e. Process, Civil, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Electrical and have been involved in multi-disciplinary projects, leading the structural design aspects;
Have strong leadership and management skills in managing structural projects and teams;
Be self-motivated, disciplined, ethical, confident, and comfortable with Clients;
Have experience in utilising specific structural design software tools to maximise productivity, efficiency and innovation;
Be proficient in Prokon software; competent CAD and 3D modelling skills, comfortable working in a BIM environment and good MS Office knowledge with strong MS Excel skills;
Be able to lead a structural engineering team to deliver exceptional results;
Have a valid driver’s license, and
Have a valid passport and be willing to travel within and outside of SA borders.
