    Senior SWIFT Technical Consultant

    About The Role

    SWIFT provides a range of on-site business and technical/supporting infrastructure consultancy services across SWIFT's customer base. The senior consultant operates in a highly complex business and technical environment in a selected market supported by SWIFT. As part of a team, the senior consultant is responsible to assist in formulating key, clear and attainable recommendations to the customer. These consultancy engagements aim at helping our customers to improve their operational efficiency, reduce costs and mitigate operational risk

    Responsibilities

    • Quality delivery of technical field services and analysis, under the governance of a project and programme manager.
    • Participate in or conduct workshops and meet with the customers to identify their needs and requirements.
    • Collaborate, as local Senior Services representative, with account management, technical enablement, and fellow Professional Services colleagues to understand the needs of the local communities on the Africa continent and articulate how Professional Services can help them achieve their business objectives.
    • Represent and progress the interests and needs of the Africa user communities in relation to Professional Services initiatives and working groups.
    • Resolve and report on customer/vendor queries and problems of medium to large complexity. Troubleshoot and quickly diagnose less complex problems in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA)/ key performance indicators and propose measures to prevent recurrence.
    • Provide support on all technical problems within own area of expertise, through the provision of telephone or online support. Work with the customer/vendor/partners to establish the root cause of problems and provide end-to-end service support, retaining ownership of a case, by resolving it individually or escalating it.
    • Maintain client relationships and build client satisfaction with designated customers by performing regular health checks of their operational environment and providing recommendations for improvement.
    • Expand knowledge and possibly deliver services from different portfolios like Compliance, Project Management, Training or business-related services.
    • Coaching of more junior staff under the guidance of Services regional Services management

    Qualifications

    • A University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.

    Professional Knowledge And Experience

    • At least 5 years’ experience in delivering technical services, systems development, finance/banking systems or operations, while being eager to expand horizons
    • Experience in SWIFT products, services and solutions.
    • Experience in market infrastructure and/or retail payments systems or operations would be advantageous.
    • Knowledge of core banking applications and integration of back office financial systems is an advantage
    • Good background or experience/knowledge in the following is an asset:
      • Technical skillsets on operating systems (Windows Server, AIX or Linux), servers,.
      • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking technologies including routers, VPN, firewalls, etc.
      • Knowledge of API, Perl, Java, XML, Bash, JIRA, AWS or Azure.
      • Knowledge of database and security technologies.
    • Fluent in English; fluency in other regional languages (e.g. French, Portuguese) will be an advantage.
    • Eager to constantly learn in a challenging and constantly moving technology world
    • Enjoy customer interactions and putting customer at the centre of attention through smart communication
    • Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • A team player, willing to work in a multicultural environment, with a constant focus on continuous improvement.
    • Willingness to travel 30-50%.
