    Senior Value Chain Manager

    Main Purpose of the Role

    • To optimize the SA Value Chain network end to end focusing on service improvement, cost reduction and healthy inventory management to support the SA commercial sales teams achieving their sales objectivesAchieving this through appropriate network design taking account existing warehousing infrastructures, manage, monitor the distribution network and 3PL distribution partners to maximize sales, control costs, all in accordance with pre-determined KPIs and service levels.To design and evolve the Value Chain to be best in class, taking into account the dynamics of prospective future growth plans and senior leadership strategic considerations.

    Key Responsibilities:
    (The Primary Tasks, Functions And Deliverables Of The Role)

    • Design and deploy the South Africa overall value chain strategy to drive customer centric service excellence, which ensures entity resources are optimized and service levels are not sacrificed, aligned with the needs of the South Africa Commercial Business
    • Analyses current value chain practices, identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, and designs short, medium and long-term initiatives to optimize the company’s evolving value chain network
    • Design and monitor performance targets across both 3rd Party Logistics Companies and the Aspen warehouses and KPI’s to improve the value chain network and deliver sustainable financial results
    • Deliver service improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and inventory replenishment cycles through strategic continuous improvement activities
    • Monitor total value chain costs and identify opportunities to optimize costs
    • Define and project manage transformational value chain infrastructure and process improvement projects to influence improved service
    • Proactively drive the expectation of value adding innovative and progressive thinking, aligned to best in class practice
    • Support management identified initiatives applicable to Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory or efficiency requirements.
    • Propose and implement effective resource allocation throughout the value chain, both human and financial

    • Hands-on role with the ability to manage multiple priorities and operational requirements of the job;
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written), able to function well as a member of a management team;
    • Highly analytical, ability to influence and logical thinking skills and abilities are essential for success in the role;
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and changing environment;
    • Energetic, self-motivated, with good problem solving skills, uses initiative and a passion for service excellence;
    • Ability to manage a large internal team as well as 3PL service providers;
    • Ability to function with less supervision;
    • Flexibility to travel

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Matric/ Grade 12
    • Financial, Supply Chain Degree, Engineering Degree preferred
    • Pharmaceutical experience preferred; if no pharma experience must have FMCG, Chemical manufacturing and or related industry experience
    • At least 12 to 15 years of Supply Chain experience, 8 to 10 years of which must be at a Senior Leadership level
    • 5 to 8 years of Logistics and Warehousing exposure (preferred)
    • 3-5 years’ senior managerial experience

    Knowledge

    • Sound knowledge of the Value Chain functional components within a multi-national business environment
    • Detailed knowledge of Southern Africa 3PL’s, freight and warehousing network
