Server Technician at Amatola Water

Minimum Qualifications:

• Recent Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) Qualification (or Equivalent Diploma) with knowledge of MS Exchange and MS SQL server

Minimum Experience:

• PC and network support experience, preferable in a corporate environment - 3 years
• Windows Server Support experience - 2 years (can be concurrent)
• Sound knowledge of windows server configuration
• Sound knowledge of MS Exchange configuration

Key Outputs:

Reporting to the ICT OPS Specialist, the appointee will:

• Maintain the server and networking infrastructure of Amatola Water at the highest quality and performance level
• Configure and maintain exchange environment
• Configure SQL server environment by ensuring correct installation and backup procedures are maintained
• Maintain and install all servers and related server software as approved by supervisor
• Maintaining and monitoring IT security mechanisms
• Reinstate passwords and facilitate the password maintenance procedures
• Change and check backup tapes daily
• Restore data on monthly basis for verification
• Monitor Wide Area Network status
• Monitor status using approved tools
• Troubleshoot in the event of network downtime
• Compile and submit performance activity monthly reports
• Minimize IT non-conformances & IT Risk to ensure compliance to policy
• Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/ supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirement
