    Service Controller

    About the job

    • Are you willing to continue your professional development as a Service Controller? Our Finance SEMEA area is expanding and looking for highly analytic and proactive professionals to collaborate in a multidisciplinary and energetic team.
    • Your main purpose in this role will be to support the Service and Automation business in South Africa and ensuring that defined controlling and reporting responsibilities are in place. You will act as key user of the overhead tool and reporting in addition to controlling of overhead structures and costs. Your proactive participation will be needed in Valmet level projects in South Africa and SEMEA (South-Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.
    • You will be located at the Valmet Durban office.

    Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:

    • Monthly/Quarterly Valmet Group reporting and local finance and business reporting as part of South Africa and SEMEA finance team
    • Secure timely and correct monthly/quarterly information and reporting of Sales, General & Administrative costs (SGA) and capacity costs into IPM and HFM system (actuals, estimates and budgets)
    • Leading Overhead costs budgeting and estimating in South Africa by defining timetables, guidelines, offering training and support. Making summaries about the estimate / plan levels and commenting and documenting the possible changes. Making allocation changes into system and monthly journal entries as required
    • Key contact for cost center managers in capacity costs and engage them to follow-up and act on cost variances with analysis providing
    • Controlling and finance support for Services business and Automation
    • Assisting with local financial bookkeeping and ledger maintenance.
    • Continuous development of best practices in use of systems and processes across business lines to ensure smooth financial processes and accurate reporting
    • Assistance with estimation / planning and other finance and business reporting (e.g. Key Performance Indicators follow-up, cost follow-up and other types of ad hoc reporting)
    • Provide support to nominated Business Partners within Automation and the Service business locally, in EMEA and in Global matrix, explaining finance topics to non-finance colleagues
    • Daily and monthly bookkeeping tasks including bank payments
    • Participation in Valmet development projects like ERP and internal trade
    • Maintaining the general ledger accounts including cashbook

    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant or equivalent qualification
    • 3 years’ experience in a similar position. Experience in an international environment is desirable
    • High degree of personal drive, with the initiative to solve problems in a pragmatic time effective manner
    • Ability to drive change and adapt quickly to changing business models and processes
    • Proven resilience in a changing business environment
    • Strong technical finance background
    • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Strong Excel and systems skills, for example VLOOKUP / Index, Match / Pivot
    • Very high level of English, both verbally and written

    • The South Africa Finance & Admin team is supported by South Europe and Middle East – region finance, EMEA finance organization, a Global Financial Operations in Finland and various finance experts in corporate finance functions
    • Working in Matrix environment, this role will support several Valmet stakeholders from South Europe and Middle East (SEMEA) Sales, HR, IT & Procurement teams as well as multiple business lines.
