    Service Engineer- JHB

    Overview

    Bruker AXS designs and manufacture analytical X-ray systems for elemental analysis, materials research, and structural investigations. Our innovative solutions enable a wide range of customers in heavy industry, chemistry, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, life science and nanotechnology to make technology advancements and to accelerate their progress.

    You will enjoy operating in a team environment with our highly skilled staff, supporting customers in high technology laboratories, in a variety of industries, and academic environments. The function of a Service Engineer is to provide expert hands-on technical expertise in all aspects of installation, commissioning, customer training, maintenance, fault finding, and customer support of Bruker AXS products as required.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide onsite installation of XRF, XRD, SC-XRD, and XRM systems or accessories at customer facilities and ensure full functionality according to specifications.
    • Provide basic customer training, instrument familiarisation, basic software training and support.
    • Secure customer acceptance following successful installation, training, and repair.
    • Repair and maintenance of Bruker AXS products at customer´s sites and at the workshop.
    • Serve as a supportive and effective communication link between the customer and company to ensure customer service satisfaction.
    • Provide hotline support.
    • Promote, quote, and sell service contracts.
    • Periodic servicing of the product at customer´s location depending upon the service contract or ad hoc service request.
    • Keep in contact with customers through phone, email, or other means of correspondence to inquire if he or she needs any additional services or consumables.
    • Preparing and issuing quotations or proposals in response to customers’ requests on a timely basis on standard company products in accordance with prices and terms of company's schedules.
    • Response to breakdowns and resolve any problems in a timely manner.
    • Maintain records of all the field trips made and services offered in a proper documented form and according to company policies and processes.
    • Complete all tasks, orders, and administration as per local ISO-accreditation protocols and requirements.
    • Ensure that all SFDC and SAP documentation and processes are up to date and followed.
    • Ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
    • Participate in factory training courses, updates on features, software of new and existing products.
    • Liaise closely with service management and sales colleagues.
    • Travel on a frequent/regular basis, both domestically and internationally (African countries).

    Qualifications

    • Qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, physics or a related discipline or be able to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge and skill gained by practical experience.
    • Minimum 3 years work experience in diagnosing and repairing analytical instruments, scientific instruments, electromechanical and / or electronic equipment.
    • Strong technical skills involving analytical instrumentation.
    • Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to enquiries, communicate and interact with customers.
    • Strong verbal, written MS Office, computer, technical data, and networking communication and presentations skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
    • Knowledge of SAP and sales force is of advantage.
    • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently and self-motivated, prioritize, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines within an entrepreneurial and customer-focused manner.
    • Possession of a current driver’s license and passport.
