Services Engineer - ECS Team at DigiOutsource

The Department

The ECS team is tasked with creating a platform that enables Tech teams to deploy in a way that is seamless, secure and easy. We will achieve this by reducing complexity and using infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, containers and orchestration.

The ECS team works in partnership with the Product team to find effective solutions that enable the company’s vision of delivering a secure platform, that enables Developer teams to realise their goals with the least resistance.

Purpose Of The Role

Reporting to the ECS Team Lead, the successful candidate will as an active member of the ECS team. You will be expected to resolve tickets escalated to the ECS team, monitor dashboards for anomalies and work on project work.

Duties Include, But Not Limited To

• Resolving tickets logged to the ECS team
• Effective escalation of tickets
• Automate all manual tasks as much as possible
• Work with the NOC to help them self-resolve issues before they become incidents
• Utilizing automation scripts for ease of ticket resolution
• Create automation scripts to fix common issues
• Ensure that monitoring is setup so that early warnings are flagged to the correct department
• Assist in root cause analysis investigations
• Put measures in place to ensure that previously identified problems don’t happen again
• Excellent customer relationship skills.

Essential Criteria

• A Relevant Information Technology tertiary qualification
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Information Technology industry using Linux
• A solid understanding of Linux operating systems and how they work with containerization
• Experience working with automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform
• Be prepared to work in a 24/7 environment.
• Working on a standby roster to field calls after hours and on weekends
• Demonstrates consistent behaviour aligned to the Combiined F and Organizational Culture
• Excellent customer relationship skills.
   

Desirable Criteria

• Proven experience in using scripting or software solutions to automate or reduce administrative work.
• Proven hands on experience with Linux distributions
• Knowledge of Server Hardware, Storage and processes around identification and replacement of faulty components
• Experience working with APIs to automate tasks
